WE Foundation has partnered with Society for Human & Environmental Development (SHED) for the implementation of its activities in Dharavi. SHED was formed in October 1982 by Begum Bilkees Latif, wife of then Governor of Maharashtra, to promote the welfare and improve the living conditions of those living in urban slums and tribal area by helping in providing basic health amenities and other allied service, recreational and educational facilities for children and grown-ups, vocational and technical training skills centres, counselling centre for harassed women and Day Care Centres for senior ladies.
WE Foundation is aligning with SHED with a focus on the adolescent age group in areas of education, skill based training and gender sensitization programs. The joint partnership will provide the additional fillip to Shed’s present programs and take it to the next logical level. It’s programs focuses on children and partnership with the foundation’s initiatives will help SHED to deepen and strengthen its work with their target groups in the older age group - a symbiotic collaboration which will help reap benefits for the target populations.
